Our second custom Bouquet urn, handmade with love in memory of our sweet Aunt Gennie. Our cousin received the first piece, a tulip bouquet. With this piece, we worked with our Uncle to design this mixed bouquet with hummingbird.

We love how the finished piece turned out!  We hope that it brings our uncle and family comfort and beautiful memories of our precious Gennie.  She would have loved it.

Power of Personalization: Burial Caket Urn for Papa Gene

Eugene Walton Forsythe

December 5, 1921 - September 15, 2019

Today we laid our grandfather to rest.  Eugene Walton Forsythe was granted a long life of 97 years. We were fortunate to care for him at home in his last days. He reunited with his love, Doris June, on September 15th...the day they would have celebrated 73 years of marriage.  He was the last born of 13 children...a was proud and brave soldier...a strong, hardworking father...and a loving grandfather. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

We created this custom Casket urn with his beautiful, old-fashioned signature. His wish was to be cremated...my grandmother wished for him to have a casket and be buried.  Today he was interred next to his beloved wife....so, that they both get their wishes.

Gennie Stegall

Virginia "Gennie" Ruth Stegall

May 1, 1945September 14, 2019

With heavy hearts, we created a tulip bouquet urn for our sweet Aunt Gennie.

She was an Earth Angel who bravely fought Parkinson's for over 25 years... without complaint, without self pity, without a harsh word spoken. She grew beautiful gardens and amazing children.

We'll miss her humble nature, her sweet giggle, her kind heart and beautiful soul. Virginia Ruth you truly are one of God's most precious.

Pre-need and a Work of Art...Cheers to another 40 years!

Upon ordering a Winged-Heart YURN, "Fierce Robin" wrote:

Pre-need, preparing for cremation urn

It isn't too often that we get an order for pre-need arrangements... so, it was a different kind of experience to connect with Robin regarding her memorial artwork...rather than a mournful event.

She had come across our YURN listing previously.... So, with an approaching heart surgery and the encouragement of her daughter, she decided to go ahead and purchase the urn she wanted for herself. And, Lord willing, she would would be able to enjoy the piece as a work of art in her home, for many years, until the time comes to utilize it as a functional cremation urn.

We love the thoughtfulness she put into her decision, for her daughter and her outlook regarding our "art".  It's so touching to know that our art brings value and comfort to those grieving, and also to those who can enjoy them as artful home decor, prior to needing them for their intended purpose.

We enjoyed getting to know more about Robin through this experience.  Her career in healthcare and God-centered passion for helping others, her love of traveling, and her overall fun personality and zeal for life.

While working on her piece, we were surprised to wake one morning to read the sweetest five-star review on our Etsy store.....we hadn't even completed or shipped her memorial yet, and still she gave us a glowing review!  How awesome!

We received postitive review before the item was completed.

We completed Robin's Heart sculpture and she received it prior to her surgery.

We are happy to follow-up on the status of Robin's open-heart surgery...

She pulled through it like a champ!  Now, she'll heal and prepare herself for a vacation to St. Lucia in April.  :)

Live it up! With love! ~

The Power of Personalization: A Pine Cone for Will

Will was described as loving life and everything about it.  His wife, Paula, wanted something related to nature to remember him...maybe a Pine Tree or nature scene? We suggested that a Pine Cone urn would be cool and she agreed.

They were married in Lake Tahoe and she saved a pine cone from their time spent there together.  Following his passing, Paula returned to Lake Tahoe for some needed time and reflection.  She took along Will's cremains and scattered a portion of the ashes there in remembrance of him and their union.

Pine trees hold a special place in our hearts too. We loved creating this piece to honor Will. We hope that it offers Paula, and their family, some comfort and beauty in their time of mourning and in the years ahead.

A Copper Winged Heart in Honor - Menkes Awareness

winged heart urn for ashes

This winged heart urn was handmade at half-depth to hold a smaller portion of ashes. It was created to honor a little boy who passed from this world too soon.  Little Braxton and his family fought a hard fight during his two short years on Earth.

He was afflicted with the condition known as Menkes Disease. It is caused by mutations in the copper transport gene, which is responsible for making a protein that is important for regulating the copper levels in the body. Primarily affecting baby boys, Menkes syndrome is terminal within the first few years of life, and currently there is no cure.

We pray that Braxton's family finds comfort and peace as they honor his spirit and mourn the loss of their little one.

Artists Thoughts: It was then that we followed our hearts

It was a Friday morning when we received an order for a guitar urn with an engraving.  This particular order came through a third-party online distributor who lists our products on their website.

It was the next morning when the distributor emails us about a misunderstanding with the production time/our schedule... the family who ordered it was under the impression it would arrive within a couple days. Our current work flow is 2-3 weeks for the production and personalization of an order. We informed the distributor that we could process the order on rush for a fee, but she opted not to do the expedited production.

It was at this point we became curious about the situation. We looked up the deceased's name online to see if we could discover more information.  We were able to find public posts on social media referencing the tragic accident which took the man's life.  There was an immense outpouring of shock, sympathy and love for this man who had a great impact in his community. Within the posts, we learned that the family was planning a memorial service for that Wednesday evening.

It was then that we made the decision to do whatever it takes to get this order to the family in time. We were inspired to help the family's situation. Regardless of whether the distributor would pay the rush fee, we would expedite the order as fast as we could.

It was over the course of the next 48 hours, that we "pulled out all the stops" and processed the guitar faster than we had ever done before. We worked through the first night and had accelerated our processes enough to get it into the kiln 24 hours after we cast it.

It was Sunday afternoon when we notified the distributor that we looked up the family's situation, the accident, and that were working on getting it out for the Wednesday service.  Seemingly unconcerned, the distributor told us it was fine to get it out later, that the family was ok with getting it after the service, and to send it ground delivery.

It was then that we remained committed to our goal and doing the right thing for the family. It was in the kiln already, so we continued forward. The kiln takes approximately 12 hours to fire and cool down.  As soon as we were able to pull it out of the kiln, we began painting the guitar...and again, worked throughout the second night.

It was Monday morning that we received a message through our Etsy store.  A customer was inquiring about a guitar urn.  They weren't concerned about having an engraving, but really just wanted to have guitar urn by Wednesday, and to please call.  Rob returned the call right away. After hearing the man's plea, Rob asked if it was the same family that had ordered through the distributor...and, in fact, it was the same family.  The family was discouraged with the distributor's stated timeline, and were seeking out another piece that was ready to ship.

It was at this moment that Rob was able to reassure the man that we had been working on their loved ones personalized guitar with engraving.  Rob told him how we found their story online, read about the accident, and made the decision to rush them their order. He was able to tell the family "we're overnighting it today and it will be there tomorrow." They were blown-away and very grateful by our initiative and efforts.

It was that Monday afternoon that we were able to bring this family comfort during a very distressing time.  It was that Monday afternoon when we knew we made the right decision to follow our hearts.

It was that Tuesday when it arrived safely to the family.

Inspiration Found: "Sing Me Back Home"

It's important to us to keep mindful of the gravity of bereavement art...to find empathy for each family we are serving. In order to feel more connected, we like to search for obituaries of those who are remembered with our art. We want to know the stories of their lives, for which, we sometimes cry and are often humbled.

With this guitar YURN, the family wanted the quote "Sing Me Back Home" engraved on his memorial.  We found this gentleman's obituary which mentioned his YouTube channel. We enjoyed listening to his music as we worked on his memorial. It was a great find to hear his cover of Merle Haggard's "Sing Me Back Home"....what special memories and music that he left for his family.

I felt as though I was not their customer, but a close friend...Five-Star Review

FIVE-STAR REVIEW
"I scoured the internet looking for an urn that would represent my brother who passed away last year. When I saw the guitar Yurn by MorzArt I knew I'd found the one.
Jamaica and Rob were absolutely remarkable. They took one of the hardest things I'll have to do in life and made it so meaningful. From their interest of my wishes in the creation of the Yurn to their eagerness to work with me on payment, Jamaica and Rob showed much kindness and understanding and I felt as though I was not their customer, but a close friend.
When I received the finished Yurn it was 100% as unique as my brother.
Thank you for everything, Jamaica and Rob."  - Lindsay E

Practicing Prototypes: Angel with Heart

We have been working on prototypes for our new Angel with Heart YURN. The first few casts of a new models is where we work our processes and color finishes. With this model, the angel's dress is the main vessel for cremains placement.

angel urn, heart urn, cremation urn, handmade

This prototype was made with Jamaica's grandmother, Doris, in mind. We personalized this model by engraving her initial "D", along with "Mom" and her grandma name, "Doie".  It won't be used as an cremation urn, but will hang on the tree that she rests under at the cemetery.

Soon we will be perfecting this model, taking pictures, naming it, writing copy and rolling her out into our production line!
