On a Personal Note: Life, Family & the Work We Love

This year has brought its share of unexpected turns. Most recently, we experienced a significant family health emergency when Jamaica’s dad suffered a serious heart scare that led to triple bypass surgery. For the past several years, her parents have kept their travel trailer on our property for extended visits with our family in the country. They happened to be with us during this episode, so his cardiac care is now local to our home. Thankfully, he’s recovering here with us, and we’re grateful every day for his strength and continued healing.

We’re still a little emotionally raw, experiencing this just four months after losing Rob’s sister, Jamie, to a fatal heart attack in our home. It’s been a lot to process, but it deepens our gratitude for health, family, and the time we have together.

Dad Recovering For more than a dozen years, Rob worked in the medical field, and now our way of life here allows us to care for our elders when needed. It’s one of the reasons we’re so drawn to this work—creating memorials with intention, love, and humanity. We’re honored to do what we do, and that includes showing up for family when it matters most.

That said, these recent weeks have naturally delayed our usual production pace. We appreciate the grace and patience of those waiting for their memorials. Please know that we’re back in the studio now, doing the careful, heartfelt work we’ve always promised—with the same dedication that’s guided us from the beginning.

From our family to yours, thank you for trusting us in such meaningful moments. It’s never taken lightly.

With appreciation,
Jamaica & Rob

The Power of Personalization: Cowboy Joe's Boots

Cowboy Boots Urn

Recently, we were asked by friends of the family to sculpt an urn for their loved one Joe.
Joe loved to ride his motorcycle, and was affectionately known as "Cowboy" to his bike club friends and loved ones.  It was decided that the most fitting tribute to remember him would be his cowboy boots.

His wife, Robin, sent us pictures of his most recent pair of boots, of which he wore with a spur on his right boot.  We used these pictures as our references to sculpt Joe's Boots.

Joe's Ariat Cowboy Boots

Additional personal touches included engravings of his name, dates, a handwritten note to Robin.

We were able to hand deliver Joe's boots to his family. We were so touched by their warm response and kind words for Joe's memorial. We greatly appreciate Robin and her sister, Laura, for working with us to honor him through our artwork.

Inspiration Found: "Sing Me Back Home"

It's important to us to keep mindful of the gravity of bereavement art...to find empathy for each family we are serving. In order to feel more connected, we like to search for obituaries of those who are remembered with our art. We want to know the stories of their lives, for which, we sometimes cry and are often humbled.

With this guitar YURN, the family wanted the quote "Sing Me Back Home" engraved on his memorial.  We found this gentleman's obituary which mentioned his YouTube channel. We enjoyed listening to his music as we worked on his memorial. It was a great find to hear his cover of Merle Haggard's "Sing Me Back Home"....what special memories and music that he left for his family.
